Banaras Hindu University is an internationally reputed temple of learning, situated in the holy city of Varanasi. This Creative and innovative university was founded by the great nationalist leader, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, in 1916 with cooperation of great personalities like Dr Annie Besant, who viewed it as the University of India. Banaras Hindu University was created under the Parliamentary legislation - B.H.U. Act 1915. It played a stellar role in the independence movement and has developed into the greatest center of learning in India.

The Nepal Sanskrit University (then Mahendra Sanskrit University) was formally established in Belzhundi Dang on December 10, 2006 with the objective of making the nobility flow according to the demands of the time. The work started by the then King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah in line with the objective of developing Sanskrit education in Nepal as a center for institutional and layered development has been established through the activism of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah and the sacrifice and hard work of the Nepali people. Sanskrit educationists from different parts of the country including Dang district have made significant contribution for the protection and upliftment of Sanskrit education in the establishment of Sanskrit University.

To conduct scientific study and teaching of the entire Sanskrit literature, to arrange for continuous expert research and other subjects incidental thereto and to present practical explanation of the knowledge-sciences contained in Sanskrit literature in a simple scientific method based on research, as well as to undertake other important researches.

॥प्रज्वालितो ज्ञानमयः प्रदीपः॥ Prajvālito jñānamayaḥ pradīpaḥ - Karnataka Samskrit University has been formed exclusively for the development of Samskrit language. Samskrit has a hoary, glorious, scientific, literary, cultural tradition and heritage. Its contribution in the area of Prose, Poetry, Drama, Dance, Sculpture, Paintings, Fine arts, Medicines, Philosophy and other allied areas is far more extensive and lasting than has been realised by the Indian scholars till today.

The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) is one of the pioneering Sanskrit Universities in India in teaching, research and innovations. The University was established in 1993 in Kalady, Kerala. The foundational aims of the University is to impart knowledge in Sanskrit, other Indian and Foreign Languages, Social Sciences and Fine Arts.
